Theatre photography is at the delicate intersection of documentary storytelling and visual spectacle. It is not enough to capture the grandeur of the craft, the dazzling lighting, effects, costumes; but you have to shoot such conditions though the lens of a  documentarian. There is no posing, no going back to a moment, only conforming to the shape of the piece, the communication of the characters, and recognizing the moments of stillness in the moments of chaos. It is one of the most gratifying challenges, to shoot a show you have never seen and be able to tell that story as though your heart is onstage with the performers.
